Grand Plans Fail Again

Apparently the TMO is trying to sell its "Global Country of World Peace Farm" in Goshen, New York. It was purchased in 2005 for $4 million.

From an article in recordonline.com:

"Kingston-based broker Steve Perfit said he requested the listing on behalf of Global Country, which has already sold 20 acres and plans to sell the rest.

"I believe it became uneconomical for them to proceed, and they're looking for other options both nationally and internationally," Perfit said of the group's organic farming ambitions."

The article also notes:

"A recent visit to the fields found them unused and poorly maintained. Assessors for the Town of Goshen said they removed agricultural tax exemptions from some of the 42 parcels since they were not being used."

It might be expensive keeping this land. The TMO often seemed like a real estate speculator. This one is unlikely to pay off.
