Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Sunday 17 February 2008

The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, dubbed 'The Beatles' Guru', has just died aged 91. In the 1950s he embarked on a mission to bring Transcendental Meditation to the world. He developed a sprawling bureaucracy, and attempted to enter mainstream politics through the Natural Law Party but his focus on meditation turned this Eastern practice into a widespread suburban phenomenon.

Guests

Paul Mason

was born in 1952 and in the early 1970s visited the Indian ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi where he learned Transcendental Meditation. He has written a number of books including a biography of the Maharishi.
