How to Post Your First Comment and Register for Our Blog

In order to post a comment on TM-Free Blog, we are now requiring that you first register for our blog. This is for security reasons. But it is still easy to remain anonymous if you'd like. (You will find instructions on anonymity in Item 6.)

Registering is much like registering for any site or commenting system on the Web—and is quite easy. We provide the instructions below for our readers and commenters who are not experienced with the process of registering.

It should take you less than 2 minutes. And you only have to do it once!
  1. If you read a story that you would like to comment on, scroll to the bottom of the article.

  2. Click on the comments link.

  3. The article page will redraw, opening a window at the bottom, revealing the comments. (Think about clicking on the "Like" button while you are there. Everybody at TMFB is a volunteer, without pay—including commenters, contributors, and the site owner. Our only payback is the appreciation you show.)

  4. You may want to read the comments that have already been posted. If you read a comment that you would like to reply to, click on "Reply." (Again consider clicking on the "Like" button.)

    1. If you already have an account with Twitter, Facebook, or other service, you can also click on the service's button and login to your account as you do normally.

    2. If you don't wish to reply to a comment, but simply register, enter any random text: "asdf". You will cancel the comment below after finishing registration.

  5. Click on "Don't have one? Register a new profile."

  6. Enter the information requested. All fields are required.

Note: If you wish to remain anonymous, use a fictitious email, such as "nobody@nowhere.com," choose a username you've used nowhere else on the Internet (including Disqus), and don't disclose identifying information in any of your comments or posts. Disqus will aggregate all your posts under this username from anywhere on the Internet, so anonymous users may not want to use this particular Disqus account to comment or post on any other sites.

  7. Click on register. Congratulations you are now registered! Our blog should automatically remember your information and log you in automatically. Note: If you use more than one identity on TM-Free Blog, you may have to login by hand each time to assure you are using your chosen identity.

  8. You will automatically be taken back to your comment text—where you can change your name or avatar. If you are satisfied with your comment, click on "Post as [Your New Username]." If you do not wish to comment, you need do nothing. As soon as you navigate away from the comment page, your unposted words will disappear—and you are still registered.
